Bandwidth on Demand
Long envisioned as a differentiating service, bandwidth on demand (BoD) is now emerging in the real world as a way for fixed-line broadband providers to generate incremental revenue, and for customers to enjoy newfound control over their broadband experiences.
Camiant’s policy control solution, the Multimedia Policy Engine (MPE), along with our Bandwidth on Demand Application Manager (BoD AM), enable fixed-line providers to deliver on-demand enhancements in network bandwidth immediately on request — without the need for modem reboots.

Turbo-Button offerings. Camiant customers have begun to employ so-called "turbo-button" BoD offerings that allow customers to self-provision faster data rates for assigned periods of time as they enjoy an enhanced experience involving real-time, multiplayer video games and other applications. |

Premium service sampling. Camiant customers are also employing BoD as a way to allow customers to sample the improvements rendered by premium-level broadband services featuring faster downstream data rates. Their thinking: Once customers have experienced the improved performance, many will upgrade to premium offerings. In fact, one operator found that 45% of users who self-provision speed preview types of promotions permanently upgrade to the higher tier. |
