Broadband services are rapidly progressing beyond simple, static offerings to become complex service tiers, each with its own entitlements, bandwidth levels, charges, consumption levels and application behaviors. The Camiant Multimedia Subscriber Repository (MSR), working in conjunction with the Camiant’s Multimedia Policy Engine (MPE), lets providers dynamically control this complexity, while simplifying the management of popular broadband services.
The Camiant MSR is a high-speed repository for locally storing provisioned subscriber data and dynamic intra and inter session subscriber state information. As broadband services are initiated, used and terminated, the Camiant MPE and other systems can query the MSR for subscriber information (such as bandwidth tier, application entitlements and remaining quota) through a wide range of industry-standard interfaces, including 3GPP*-compliant Sh.
The MSR functions as a 3GPP Subscriber Profile Repository (SPR). Along with Camiant’s MPE, the MSR enables providers to:
