Deploying new multimedia services not only enhances customer loyalty, it creates new avenues for additional revenue growth. Camiant's Bandwidth on Demand Application Manager (BoD AM) allows web-based and non-IMS applications to take full advantage of Camiant’s policy and charging framework, without the applications themselves requiring any specific knowledge about the access network technology.
The BoD AM receives service requests from applications via HTTP or SOAP messages and translates them into standards-compliant service requests. It then forwards those requests to the Camiant Multimedia Policy Engine (MPE), which determines the appropriate quality of service (QoS), charging and quota rules.
Working in conjunction with the MPE, the BoD AM: |
• |
Enables rapid integration of proprietary and third-party applications through HTTP and SOAP/XML interfaces.
|
• |
Maintains active session state, providing valuable information for subscriber billing, usage tracking and service reliability for the deployment of any multimedia application. |
• |
Lets applications request the setup and teardown of dynamic QoS resources, ensuring that each receives the appropriate bandwidth and service priority. |
• |
Offers an optional graphical user interface for viewing active and past sessions and event logs, creating and viewing individual users and performing administrative activities on the BoD AM. |
